IV sedation
IV sedation can be beneficial if you experience dental anxiety.
THE AMERICAN DENTAL ASSOCIATION RECOMMENDS TWO CLEANINGS/EXAM A YEAR
This form of sedation is administered through an IV so the medication can quickly access your bloodstream. You will remain conscious and aware of what is going on, but you will feel very calm and possibly tired. You will be closely monitored while on IV sedation to ensure your comfort.
IV sedation is the strongest form of conscious sedation, so patients should expect to feel sleepy, even forgetful, for up to several hours following their treatment.
Because this type of sedation is administered directly into the bloodstream, you will feel the effects immediately. You will quickly feel a calming effect, drowsiness, slight amnesia and tingling sensations. You will settle into a peaceful, euphoric state and remain there for your treatment.
Our dentists may recommend IV sedation to help ensure your comfort during your dental treatments. This form of sedation allows you to feel completely at ease while receiving care so that you can avoid distress and anxiety and have a more pleasant experience as well as an effective treatment. To make an appointment and learn if IV sedation is right for you, call Dentistry and Braces Group today.
IV (intravenous) sedation is a conscious sedation treatment, meaning that you will be aware of where you are and what is happening, and able to follow any instructions provided by our dentists. Prior to providing you with IV sedation, you will meet with our dentists one-on-one to discuss your medical history, dental needs and any other relevant factors to determine if IV sedation is the best option for you.
IV sedation provides medication directly into your bloodstream to help you relax quickly and feel comfortable during your appointment. This type of sedation is very safe, but we will monitor you closely throughout your entire treatment to ensure that there are no complications. Patients often feel as though they have slept through their treatment following their procedure and do not recall many of the details of their visit.
You will need to bring someone with you to drive you home from our office. We also recommend that someone remain with you for several hours after you have arrived home until the medication has worn off.
We invite you to contact our office today for more information about IV sedation and to schedule your consultation with our caring dentists. We look forward to providing you with a comfortable dental visit.
