What is a root canal?

A root canal is a type of endodontic treatment recommended when the dental pulp and tooth nerves are damaged or infected. Root canals remove the damaged and infected tooth tissue, saving the tooth from extraction and restoring your oral health.

How is root canal treatment performed?

When you receive a root canal, our dentists will carefully open your tooth to remove the infected and injured tissues from within it. The tooth will then be cleaned and filled with medicated material to help prevent the infection from returning. Finally, we will cap the tooth with a dental crown to restore its original shape and structure and protect the tooth from any further damage. Root canals typically require one to two visits to complete.

Are there alternatives to root canal therapy?

Unfortunately, the only alternative to a root canal treatment is a tooth extraction. If a root canal is recommended, it is because our dentists and team believe that your tooth can be saved. As our goal is to help you preserve and protect your natural teeth, a tooth extraction is always the last resort.

ROOT CANAL THERAPY

If your teeth are damaged or infected, our dentists may recommend a root canal to help you regain your oral health and smile. Root canals remove the damaged tooth tissue to restore your oral health without removing the tooth, preventing the need for more extensive treatments to replace your tooth or teeth entirely.
